Merkel Cell Carcinoma

Merkel cell tumor is a rare, aggressive, cutaneous neuroendocrine malignancy, and ultraviolet exposure is considered a major risk factor. Eyelid tumors typically present near the eyelid margin as a rapidly expanding, painless, indurated, erythematous, violaceous, solitary dermal nodule with dilated telangiectatic blood vessels and loss of eyelashes. Wide local surgical excision is currently the standard of care but the recurrence rate is hgh.
